The following have shown at least some promise for gout.
Coffee. According to the Mayo Clinic, theres evidence that drinking a moderate amount of coffee a day can lower gout risk.
Antioxidant-rich fruits. Dark-colored fruits like blackberries, blueberries, grapes, raspberries, and especially cherries can help keep uric acid under control.
Vitamin C. Consuming moderate amounts of vitamin C is also connected to lower uric acid levels. However, very large doses of the vitamin can actually raise uric acid levels.

When To Get Help For A Gout Flare
It’s always a good idea to let your doctor know that you are having a flare. Sometimes, you may need to follow up to make sure your treatment plan is working or if your symptoms don’t improve. Call your doctor if:
This is your first flare-up. There are several other conditions, such as a joint infection, that have some of the same symptoms as gout attacks.
You have a highfever and chills. Gout attack symptoms may include a mild fever, but a higher temperature may be a sign of an infection.
Your symptoms don’t get any better after 48 hours or don’t end after about a week. If you don’t start to feel somewhat better after a few days, call your doctor. They may suggest a different treatment. Most gout attacks will go away by themselves in several weeks, even without treatment.

If You Are Having Repeated Attacks See Your Doctor
Some patients can go a long time between attacks. In fact, for 62 percent of patients the next attack will be more than a year away, and some won’t have another attack in the next 10 years. However, if you begin to have more frequent attacks, talk to your doctor about escalating treatment. People think its normal to have flares every now and then, but its not. How To Prepare Lemon Juice
Its not known how quickly lemon juice works to lower uric acid, or if it can help symptoms during a flare-up. But drinking lemon juice daily even when you dont have symptoms can become part of your preventative diet for gout.
Drink the juice of one to two lemons per day. To make sure youre drinking the juice of at least one lemon per day, squeeze the entire amount into a measuring cup before adding it to your beverages. Use a lemon press to get all the juice out more easily. Roll the whole lemon on a counter or tabletop for a few minutes before juicing to help release more juice.
The best way to drink lemon juice is to dilute it. The research shows that lemon juice still works to help treat gout when its watered down. Add freshly squeezed lemon juice to your water bottle or make a lemon tea with hot water.
You can also flavor herbal or green tea with lemon juice. Avoid adding sugar to lemon beverages. Instead, sweeten with sugar-free alternatives like stevia, or flavor with mint.

Foods that contain plenty of magnesium are an important part of a diet for all gout patients. Some examples of such foods are seeds, nuts, low-fat dairy products, and greens. An adult man needs 400 mg of magnesium per day. You can get the same result by consuming magnesium supplements if you like an easy way.
Magnesium decreases uric acid. When the magnesium level is low, inflammation in the body will get worse. Sadly, there are no detailed studies that will confirm the theory, but there are a lot of people who use this remedy and claim it works well and the long term.

Your doctor may recommend that you limit foods that may hike uric acid levels. That includes organ and red meats, shellfish , alcohol , and sugar and high-fructose corn syrup.
